Are you ready for the consequences?
CM
my mom arrives tomorrow for a week long visit.
i'm seriously debating having a conversation with her, not about doctrinal issues, but more of what bothers me in regards to the mind control aspect of it all.
i have been reading twisted scriptures, and the subtle power of spiritual abuse.
Are you ready for the consequences?

i'm curious, just recently it seems that our family are intent on 'reasoning' or 'finding out' why we are no longer interested in being a jw.
what seems strange is how we have been approached by relatives here and overseas with such a small time frame - which leads us to believe that there must be some impetous for this suddent 'interest' in us and our choice, which we made over 10 years ago ... is it just us or does anyone out there know something, we suspect that something was raised at the recent district conventions, perhaps 'new light'!
we are tempted to let them know the full reasons, but (ofcourse) we fear that this will lead to an allegaton of apostacy and our df'g... .
After 10 years its all a bit too little too late ... I'm yet to be convinced that it's genuine interest that propels the enquiry ... more like dirt gathering.

Doubt they are really interested in our reasons for no longer having nothing to do with them or any other religion - I think they are trying to open the door and put us in a position that it all comes to a head. Lets face it we have been able to avoid what your going through for the last 10 years - perhaps it's crunch time. We really hope not, although since our move interstate 2 years ago the pressure has been off, but it is escalating ... Maybe we're paranoid...

Curious Mind
my mom isnt a big fan of guns, but after being mugged once, she appreciates the value of a well placed firearm.
she doesn't mind that i hunt and go to the shooting range regularly with my father.
about 6 months ago, i was out in field service with my mother and an elder's 2 daughters.
Interesting discussion, but some on here i think like their weapons a bit much or at least need to realise that pistols really have no function but to kill people, i speak on this not as someone who opposes firearms but as a military weapons instructor and small arms coach and they are not gucchi toys they are deadly serious tools and i know exactly what they are capable of and what they do to people.
someone informed me today that in two months time there will be a "special announcement" to all congregations.
everyone must be present at the kingdom hall for it.
my elders already know what it is, but won't tell me.
Good point sweetp, the thing i still cant reconcile is why would god give his only people wrong information to spread only to correct it over the years ,it just does not make sense
have any of you noticed that when "quick built", kh.
were being done that many tempers flared amongst brothers.
some were vicious and cruel and rude.
Hey ,unclebruce have you got any more news from Australia, i can just imagine Ben Dykstra strutting his stuff, that whole family thinks there shit dont stink
we think you will like to hear of some recent happenings around bethel..
max larson:.
at 6:10 pm on april 29, 2004 a small group of workers met in max.
No wonder they need the donations to keep coming in,i cant beleive how big a clergy class they have now and i bet most JW's dont realise either
well me and a couple of co-workers took the afternoon off and we went and saw the day after tomorrow.
i was greatly disappointed i must say.
if you don't want to know too much about the story, don't read any further.
Wow that brought back some memories Blondie , i havnt seen that picture for years but i remember sitting at the meeting imagining that crevasse opening up and sucking in people i didnt like.
i was perusing through a book entitled "african american recipients of the medal of honor: a biographical dictionary, civil war through vietnam war" by charles w. hanna (jefferson, north carolina, and london: mcfarland & company, inc., publishers, 2002) when i came across this very interesting entry on pages 173-4. i thought some of you might find it interesting.
it is rather lengthy, so i will not quote the whole article.. "1st lieutenant ruppert l. sargent, u s a.
9th u.s. infantry.
It's sad that his wife did'nt have the grace to accept the award for what it was, a recognition of the mans bravery. My wife and i were both raised as JW's and i am in the airforce and i know she would be proud to accept an award if anything happened to me.
